The 2020 NFL season was one to forget for the Denver Broncos as they failed to make the playoffs yet again after winning it all back in 2015. After finishing the 2020 season with a 5-11 overall record the Broncos are looking to shake things up in a major way heading into next season.

It’s been no secret that the Broncos have been rumored to be in the sweepstakes for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. While it’s unlikely that Watson gets traded anytime soon that doesn’t mean that the Broncos are going to be complacent when it comes to addressing the need for a quarterback. Drew Lock is the team’s current starting quarterback but the team doesn’t necessarily feel he is the answer moving forward.

Will the Broncos stick with Drew Lock or make move for QB?

Heading into the 2021 NFL Draft the Broncos will do their due diligence on all the top quarterbacks, tackles, and linebackers as those are the major needs right now. If I had to put money on it myself I think the Broncos would love to land what they hope is their franchise quarterback for years to come after missing on Paxton Lynch, Brock Osweiler, and Drew Lock in recent years. Will the ninth overall pick be high enough to land said quarterback or will the Broncos need to trade up to make that happen?

So far this free agency the Broncos have gone ahead and solidified their secondary by extending safety Justin Simmons, defensive end Shelby Harris and signing cornerbacks Ronald Darby and Kyle Fuller to new deals as well. What was once a major need is now a strength for the Broncos and will allow them to focus on more of the offensive needs and the defensive front-seven needs.

Luckily for Denver, they have a plethora of selections in the 2021 NFL Draft to help reshape the roster to get back into playoff contention as soon as possible.
