USMNT vs. Jamaica score, highlights: Dest, Aaronson and Lletget score as Americans win international friendly – CBSSports.com

The U.S. men’s national team defeated Jamaica, 4-1, during an international friendly at Stadion Wiener Neustadt in Austria on Thursday. It was the first meeting for the Concacaf rivals since their 2019 Gold Cup semifinal.

The U.S. made quick work of establishing tempo in the early minutes, retaining the ball and dominating possession, although the team initially struggled to find meaningful opportunities in the final third against an organized Jamaica backline. After better combination play from the U.S. attack, the breakthrough on goal occurred in the 34th minute.

Yunus Musah connected with Sergino Dest into open space for this spectacular opening goal — the Barcelona defender’s first with the USWNT.

Coach Gregg Berhalter made some halftime substitutions which paid off in the 52nd minute as Brenden Aaronson extended the lead to 2-0, on a strong assist in the box from Josh Sargent.

Jamaica opened the game up getting a goal back in the 70th minute. The Reggae Boyz caught USA on a quick counter after an attacking set piece. Andre Gray nutmegged U.S. defender Reggie Cannon on the assist to Jamal Lowe, who chipped Zach Steffan to pull Jamaica within a goal. But Sebastian Lletget put the game away for USA with goals in the 83rd and 90th minutes to secure the win.
