49ers sign WR Mohamed Sanu to a one-year deal – Niners Nation

Per his agent Mike McCartney, the San Francisco 49ers have signed wide receiver Mohamed Sanu to a one-year deal. Sanu lasted three games on the 49ers roster this past season before being released. He had one reception for nine yards.

If you recall, Deebo Samuel wasn’t too happy at the time of Sanu’s release. While he may not have the impact on the field, Sanu’s presence should be felt during another virtual offseason as he helps the young wideouts on the roster learn and prepare. In that sense, the team needed a veteran to show the young players the ropes.

As it stands, the 49ers need depth at wide receiver, specifically in the slot. This shouldn’t prevent the team from adding a pass-catcher in the draft. It also won’t have much of an effect on the salary cap.

Let’s hope Sanu brings the best out of Deebo and Brandon Aiyuk, along with the other young wideouts on the team.
