Jarran Reed has interest from Bengals and Cowboys: NFL news and rumors – Cincy Jungle

Former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Jarran Reed is now one of the top overall free agents on the market. And with the Cincinnati Bengals still looking to upgrade their d-line, it should come as no surprise to learn they’re interested in the standout defender.

According to All Bengals reporter James Rapien, the Bengals and Dallas Cowboys are among the teams showing interest in Reed.

Reed, who will be a sixth-year player in 2021, was a second-round pick out of Alabama in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played for the Seahawks for five years and had signed an extension following the 2019 season, despite only playing in 10 games the previous season due to injury.

Over his five years in Seattle, the 28-year-old Reed played in 72 games and recorded 194 tackles, 22 sacks, 22 tackles for a loss and 58 QB hits. His most productive season was in 2018 when he had double-digit sacks and 24 QB hits, which earned him a 66.8 PFF grade, the highest of his career.

Defensive tackle is still a bit of a question mark following the release of Geno Atkins, while DJ Reader is coming off a season-ending quad injury. The team did sign Larry Ogunjobi, but it was just a one-year deal, so having another guy like Reed in the fold would be a major boost to the d-line in Cincinnati.

The Bengals recently pursued Sheldon Rankins but were unable to sign him, so it’s clear they want another body in the middle of this defense. Reed may very well be the best one left on the market heading into the 2021 NFL Draft.
