After a day’s worth of online arguments and speculation as to the identity of the next King of Fighters 15 character through their mystery silhouette, we finally have our answer, and it’s a good one.
SNK revealed tonight that Shermie will be joining the expanding roster via a new gameplay trailer for KOF15 sporting a brand new design that doesn’t leave much to the imagination.
Shermie is making her first playable appearance in the mainline KOF series since all the way back in 2002: Unlimited Match, and the developers have updated her looks and gameplay now for the HD era.
As one can expect out of the classic fighter, her command grabs and hit grabs are still very much here and part of her core gameplan plus it’s kinda hard not to get hyped up seeing a quadruple German Suplex coming out in the new game.
The grappling musician’s signature flips and aerial acrobatics are also certainly present in her newest incarnation as well, so you’re gonna have to watch the skies as well as the grabs coming your way.
Since we previously got Yashiro Nanakase‘s announcement a few weeks back, this all but confirms that their third partner in crime, Chris, will be joining the game as well to complete the original Team New Faces from KOF97.
Previously, the entire team had remained dead for two decades after sacrificing themselves to reawaken Orochi through Chris as a host, but he ended up being sealed away once again by Team Sacred Treasures.
The story events of KOF14 and Verse’s defeat brought Shermie, Yashiro and Chris back to the world of the living, and it looks like they’re ready to fight again — this time probably on the side of good it appears.
