NBA Admits Officiating Error on CJ McCollum Foul Call vs. Clippers – Blazers Edge

During last night’s 113-112 loss, Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum was whistled for a shooting foul with 4.8 seconds on the clock, allowing Clippers guard Paul George to hit the game-winning free throws. During this morning’s Last Two Minute report, the NBA acknowledged the error, saying that McCollum should not have been called for a foul.

As noted by Trail Blazers beat reporter Casey Holdahl, this is Portland’s second run-in with the NBA’s L2M report this week. In Friday’s victory over the San Antonio Spurs, the Blazers benefitted from a no-call on a last-second shot attempt by Jakob Poeltl that should have led to free throws. On Tuesday night, they ended up with the short end of the stick.

The full report can be read here on the NBA’s officiating page. The Blazers will seek to develop short-term memory and get back on track in tonight’s game against the Denver Nuggets.
