Smyly was scratched from his last scheduled start in Chicago due to some soreness in his forearm. He has made two starts this season allowing seven earned runs in 11 innings. Kazmar was a great feel good story earlier in the week as he returned to the majors after a 12-year gap. He saw action in two games and went 0-for-1 at the plate.
Pache hasn’t played since April 13 when he suffered a groin strain. He began the season as the team’s starting center fielder but has struggled at the plate hitting just .133/.161/.200 in 31 plate appearances. Pache began playing in games at the alternate site on Friday and they will be looking to get him back in the groove at the plate before he returns.
