Why was Disguised Toast ‘cancelled’?
On May 2, a Twitter user who goes by the name Hope posted a thread calling out Disguised Toast and spoke about his problematic behavior. The Twitter user posted a couple of videos of the streamer along with some of the statements he had made in the past to prove their point.
The user claimed that some of the things that Toast has said have been “borderline offensive.” The post read: “He has explained that there is a grey area between being offensive and not offensive, and he prefers to stay in the grey area where people can squint eyes at him and say, “that’s kinda messed up,” but at the same time, it isn’t.”
As the post continues, the user notes: “making edgy humor or dark humor jokes are not funny unless you are the one a part of that community and making the jokes. When someone who is not part of that community intrudes on that space in which they do not belong, it becomes offensive.
The post goes on to point out several reasons as to why Toast should be ‘cancelled.’ You can read the entire thread here.

Disguised Toast responds to being ‘cancelled’
After several people started getting the ‘Disguised Toast cancelled’ trend, he decided to break his silence on Twitter. Hours after the thread went viral, Toast posted: “Addressing my “problematic” past and being cancelled.”
He wrote: “I have always toed the line of “edgy” humor when it comes to my online presence. Over the last 5 year, I’ve developed a more sarcastic, blunt, and satirical personality. There’s nothing about what I’ve done publicly that I have tried to hide, or delete, or claim ignorance to. I take full responsibility of all I’ve said and all my actions. I can proudly say that I’m someone who is really open about my life in a space where many hide, not because they are bad people, but because people on the internet love judging and backseating a streamer’s life.”
Toast revealed he decided to speak up when his friends started getting targeted. In his response, he also spoke about the allegations placed on him. He ended the post by writing, “The one thing I ask is to leave my friends alone. They are wonderful people that don’t deserve any hate for associating with me. Boycott my content, cancel me, whatever – but don’t drag them into it by pressuring them or demanding an apology from them just because we play games together.”
