The Braves have sorely needed reinforcements in the starting rotation, and on Wednesday they received just that in the form of ace Max Fried. Prior to hitting the IL, Fried looked like a shell of himself, especially compared to the dominant iteration we saw in 2020. The left-hander looked healthy on Wednesday, and the results followed. Continued success from Fried would be quite the boost for a rotation in need of stability.

Max Fried reinstated from the Injured List, Sean Newcomb optioned to AAA
Fried is back, but at the expense of Sean Newcomb, who was optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday. Keeping Grant Dayton in the bullpen while sending Newcomb down seems counterintuitive, so we will see how long it takes for Newcomb to return.
