Knicks 106, Clippers 100: Scenes from Derrick Rose and the defense willing the team to victory – Posting and Toasting

What more can we say about the 2020-21 New York Knicks at this point? Y’all know the deal already: They’re tough as nails. Just when you think they’re falling back, they charge forward.

Our guys really needed a win Sunday afternoon on the heels of two straight losses out West. But their opponent, the Los Angeles Clippers, are a tough, talented group. Also, key bench players Immanuel Quickley and Alec Burks were out once again. This club is never going to make excuses, but this didn’t look like a W, especially when the Clips started off the game on an 8-0 run. The Knicks’ star, Julius Randle, couldn’t buy a bucket throughout the contest, which is normally a bad sign.

None of that mattered. The Knicks were carried by the offensive brilliance of Derrick Rose (25 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds), the defensive tenacity of Reggie Bullock (24 points) and RJ Barrett (18 points) guarding superstars Kawhi Leonard (9-26 shooting) and Paul George (8-20 shooting), and Randle picked up his scoring just in the nick of time with three clutch buckets to propel New York to a 106-100 victory.

What a team! Recap to come. Enjoy the rest of your Mother’s Day, all the moms out there.
