Getting from the lakefront to Arlington Heights as a commuter can be arduous. Getting from the lakefront to Arlington Heights as a football team can be nearly impossible.
Ask the Bears. They tried it in 1975 and in 1990 before turning around and heading back for the lakefront.
But the journey is worth attempting again because no matter what lease improvements the Bears can negotiate, the team will need a new stadium within 12 years when their agreement with Soldier Field expires.
This has nothing to do with sod divots, traffic jams, cross-your-legs bathroom lines or beauty-in-the-eye-of-the-beholder architecture.
It’s about money, as always.
