One of Brandon Belt’s better moments of the season quickly took a turn.
Belt smartly put a perfect bunt down to get the Giants a needed baserunner in the eighth inning against the Los Angeles Angels and went first-to-third on Donovan Solano’s single. When the throw to third got away from Anthony Rendon, Belt tried to score the go-ahead run and suffered an apparent leg injury.
Manager Gabe Kapler said after the game that Belt injured his right knee and will get an MRI.
Belt was thrown out at the plate and went down in the grass behind the plate. He was removed from the game and replaced by Darin Ruf, who just came off the injured list.

The injury comes as the Giants were just starting to get healthy. They got Ruf and Alex Dickerson back from the IL in time for this series and Tommy La Stella has started a rehab assignment. Belt previously missed 11 games with a left oblique strain.
