After watching two late leads slip away in a series loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, the Atlanta Braves have optioned reliever A.J. Minter to Gwinnett. Minter allowed two hits and two runs in just 1/3 of an inning in Sunday’s loss.
The #Braves optioned LHP A.J. Minter to Triple-A Gwinnett following today’s game.

Minter has been trending in the wrong direction for over a month now. He has allowed 25 hits and 13 earned runs over his last 17 1/3 innings pitched. That spans 25 appearances and has seven walks and 19 strikeouts while opponents are hitting .342 against him during that stretch.
Calling Atlanta’s bullpen performance inconsistent would be an understatement at this point. Minter has been a big part of that but isn’t alone. Still, he will get an opportunity to work on things at Gwinnett for the time being at least.
The Braves were going to need a roster move to add a starter for Monday’s series opener against the San Diego Padres. Kyle Muller is the favorite to get that call and would be on regular rest while Bryse Wilson would be another option.
