Olympic Men’s Basketball: Team USA vs. Iran Game Day Preview – Blazers Edge

Team USA looks to bounce back against Iran in men’s basketball after the United States dropped their first game in group play at the Tokyo Olympics to France 89-79. The loss against France marked the snapping of a 25 win streak in Olympic play for Team USA. Portland Trail Blazers’ point guard Damian Lillard struggled in the game against France, as he seemed to have difficulty adjusting to playing offball. Lillard only notched 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists while also committing four turnovers in the outing against France.

Iran is also looking for their first win at these Olympic Games. They lost to the Czech Republic 84-78. The Iranian squad features no NBA talent, but they rallied against the Czech team in the second half of the loss on the back of Behnam Yakhchali, who scored 23 points for the Iranians.

Due to the hour of the game, it will not be carried live on cable television.
