Cody Zeller agrees to 1-year deal with Portland Trail Blazers, per report – OregonLive

The Portland Trail Blazers are adding another big man to their roster.

Free agent center Cody Zeller has agreed to a one-year deal with the Trail Blazers, his agent told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 6-foot-11 Zeller, 28, has played his entire career with the Charlotte Hornets, where he averaged 8.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during his tenure. His best season with the Hornets was 2019-20, when he posted 11.1 points with 7.1 rebounds in 58 games (39 starts).

The No. 4 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft, Zeller has played 467 games in the NBA, but has managed to stay healthy a full 82-game season just once in his career, his rookie year.

The signing of Zeller is essentially a replacement for the Blazers for forward/center Zach Collins, who signed with the San Antonio Spurs at the start of free agency Monday. He also might be the backup center to starter Jusuf Nurkic, with Enes Kanter a free agent.
