Florida State football practice updates: August 6 – Tomahawk Nation

11:30 a.m. update

Today’s part “A” practice started at 9 a.m. with lots of fast-paced warmups. Jordan Travis and Mckenzie Milton were the two quarterbacks participating in the first session.

A player that stood out was wide receiver Jordan Young, he seemed to have good chemistry with Milton. Milton definitely had plenty of opportunities to showcase his arm.

Jordan Travis, despite overthrowing a few balls with one taken to the house, did link up with wide receiver Kentron Portier in the flat and Ontaria Wilson on another.

Keyshawn Helton was the one receiver that stood out the most, a great sign for the redshirt senior. Overall, the offense shined until different substitutions were made on that side of the ball — an expected outcome for the first day of practice.

“One of the things that’s a great indicator to the mindset, the identify of our football team, is to see that growth from where we finished up in April to where we are taking the field [at the start of fall camp], and as we progress through the next 25 practices and those opportunities.”

Today, Florida State Seminoles football takes it first official steps towards the 2021 season and head coach Mike Norvell is looking for one thing above all when it comes to his team — consistency.

Norvell spoke with the media for around 30 minutes yesterday, detailing the offseason impressions he took away and the preseason expectations he has for his squad.

“I want us to be a relentless football team. You have to practice relentlessly. You have to warm up relentlessly and that’s the only way you build that identity.”

“The way these guys are coming into the building and the mindset they have…these guys have invested a lot off the field and I’m excited to see how that plays out [on it].”
