The Atlanta Braves will be looking to keep the pressure on the Phillies and the Mets Saturday when they continue their series against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. The Braves waited out a three hour rain delay Friday night and then launched four solo home runs to pick up a 4-2 win behind a solid performance by Charlie Morton. Atlanta has now won eight of their last ten games and moved back into a tie with the Philadelphia for the NL East lead. The Nationals have now lost five straight and 10 of their last 11 games.
Max Fried will get the start Saturday for the Braves and will be making his second straight start against Washington. Fried allowed seven hits and a walk but only one run over six innings last Sunday. He struck out five and has allowed just four runs combined over his last 19 innings.
Patrick Corbin will get the call again for the Nationals. He matched Fried pitch for pitch early on last Sunday but the Braves were able to finally get to him thanks to home runs by Ozzie Albies and Adam Duvall. Corbin was tagged for five hits and five runs over six innings in the loss. He has allowed a combined 11 hits and nine runs in 13 innings in his last two starts combined.
Saturday’s game is scheduled to get underway at 6:05 p.m. ET from Nationals Park and can be seen on Bally Sports Southeast.
