Chargers hire Rams’ former defensive coordinator as new head coach
Hey, I love seeing you on those screens. The 38 year old Chargers new head coach previously served as a defensive coordinator for the rams last season and was an assistant coach for the broncos and Bears. But this year Brandon staley kicked off his first ever training camp practice as the new head coach of the L. A. Chargers. We got to the field, we had our activation. Then we went into our stretch and I felt like that was really well organized. We’re trying to, you know, make that a winning edge for us, how we kind of start practice. Uh, and then I thought just the administration of practice being brand new, uh, knowing exactly where everyone is on the field, the transition time. Hey, where’s the hydration break? I felt like it was about as clean as you could hope for. So just really proud of the coaching staff, our sports performance staff and, and our players. All right, They’re the real studs, You know, they came out here today, competed and um, I felt like it was a smooth practice for the first time out together. Let’s do this during his first training camp as head coach. Brandon staley is emphasizing that a good start should result In a good finish. And I wanted our guys to kind of get to the end of the practice and say, Hey, I could have gone longer than that. All right. But this is our first time competitively to get together going 11 on 11. So we’re trying to do is phase this in properly, get our guys the right tactical work. Um but make sure that we’re building during training camp all right, and that we’re ready to play, when when it matters and having guys healthy and playbook ready will be the key to turning things around and with his approach to resting veteran players during training camp should pay huge dividends during the regular season as training camp and sometimes drain a player’s energy and spirit. You know, there’s some guys here that have played a lot more than others, Linval, joseph Jared cook, bryan Bulaga, chris, Harris. Those guys are different players than uh first or second or third year player and just being mindful of their specific program. And as we go, being, you know, mindful of all the GPS data that that’s available to us, that Anthony and Jonathan marco Ciccone er staff do such a great job of keeping us informed his coaches so we can make good decisions and good decisions will affect the outcome of most games. And it all started eight months ago we put in a lot of work from january to june but the NFL season kind of starts now when you put shoulder pads and helmets on and and it’s training camp so and games are upon you. So I think we were all excited to play football together and compete
