In the pre-show for gamescom 2021, a new trailer was dropped for King of Fighters 15. During the trailer, it was revealed that King of Fighters 15 will be released on February 17, 2022.
It was also stated that “39 fighters [will] get in the ring.” This seems to be implying that King of Fighters 15 will have a base roster of 39 characters.
The trailer also briefly showed us that Ash Crimson, the protagonist of the Tales of Ash story arc, will be making his return in King of Fighters 15. Due to events in King of Fighters 13, Ash was essentially deleted from existence.
However, the defeat of Verse, the final boss of King of Fighters 14, has resulted in the return of many characters like Ash Crimson, Yashiro, Shermie, Chris and many others.
We also got a sneak peek at two unnamed newcomers in the latest trailer. One of the newcomers is a female with blue and white hair, a yellow jacket, a black beanie and several piercings on her ear. The other newcomer is a dark skinned female that has blonde and purple braided hair and is wearing glasses.
Not much is known about the two newcomers, but it’s stated outright that they are key characters involved with the unfolding events of King of Fighters 15.
