The running back for Alabama football is one that Nick Saban is excited to see.
A lot of competition is going on after Brian Robinson Jr., but Saban is pleased with everyone.
Trey Sanders is gearing up to bounce back in a major way this season. Despite arriving on campus as a five-star in 2019, the native Floridian has suffered a couple of setbacks.
He missed his freshman season (foot injury) and sustained injuries in a car accident that forced him to miss games last year. As a redshirt sophomore, Sanders has turned in a stellar fall camp and is prepared to contribute to the team.
According to Emil Ekiyor, the junior said he sees Sanders producing in a big way.
“It has been good to see him bounce back from his injury,” Ekiyor said Thursday on Sanders. “I know he had a tough time last year. Just seeing him out there breaking tackles, breaking long runs, it has been a good feeling. We are excited to see what he does.”
He’s been catching passes out the backfield in scrimmages, and his speed, power, explosiveness, and other playmaking abilities have returned.
Coach Saban said the IMG Academy product has been playing well. Miami might have had its eyes on Sanders in the 2019 recruiting cycle, but he chose the Crimson Tide. The versatile back will face the Hurricanes on Saturday, Sept. 4.
