TL;DR
- A tipster has revealed the possible launch date of the Google Pixel 6 series.
- The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro could land just a day ahead of the iPhone 13 lineup.
September is shaping up to be a pretty important month for smartphone launches. A new leak suggests that the Google Pixel 6 will be one of the three hotly anticipated devices to launch next month.
According to a Weibo tipster, Google could launch the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on September 13. While you should take this information with a pinch of salt as leaks can often be wrong, the date doesn’t seem out of place given that the Pixel 5 launched on September 30 last year. Google might also beat Apple to the party as the new iPhone 13 lineup is expected to launch on September 14 or September 15.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also reportedly gearing up to launch the Galaxy S21 FE in September. While not a premium flagship, the phone is still expected to carry the Snapdragon 888 chipset, putting it right up there with the best of the best in terms of performance.
Google Pixel 6 series: What to expect
Google has already confirmed the design and key details of the Pixel 6 series. What we’re looking forward to the most is the company’s in-house Tensor chip. Word has it that Google has collaborated with Samsung to produce the SoC. However, besides touting its AI and machine learning smarts, the company hasn’t divulged any other details just yet.
Other than the brand new silicon, Google’s Pixel 6 series will feature an attractive design, a body-length camera bump being the standout change. Some confirmed specs include high refresh rate displays, a triple camera setup (main + ultra-wide + telephoto) on the Pro model, in-display fingerprint sensors on both phones, and more.
