Jets trade Chris Herndon to the Vikings – New York Post

The Jets pulled off a surprising trade on Tuesday afternoon, shipping disappointing tight end Chris Herndon to the Vikings, a source confirmed.

Terms of the deal were not immediately known.

The Jets drafted Herndon with a fourth-round pick in 2018 out of Miami and he had a strong rookie season, catching 39 passes for 502 yards and four touchdowns. It led to big expectations that he never fulfilled.

He missed all but one game in 2019 due to a suspension and injuries. The 25-year-old returned in 2020, but had a problem with drops and seemed to lose confidence. He caught 31 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns. He dropped four passes and had two fumbles.

The Jets made the move in advance of trimming their roster to 53 players.
