Report: Browns Beckham, Delpit & Williams ready to go in Week 1 – Browns Wire

The Cleveland Browns have a lot of goals ahead of them for the 2021 season. They all, officially, start with their Week 1 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Super Bowl champions two years ago and AFC champions the last two years, the Chiefs present a very difficult opener for the Browns.

In order to reach their goals, starting with Week 1, Cleveland did as much as possible to get or keep their main players healthy throughout training camp. Key contributors took days off, only did individual drills and, most skipped the first two preseason games. Even in the third preseason game didn’t have all of the key players playing and those that played didn’t play much.

All to keep their players available for Week 1. With that game seven days away comes a report that those tactics may have worked for three former LSU Tigers who have struggled with injuries, according to Mary Kay Cabot:

Odell Beckham Jr., Grant Delpit and Greedy Williams, all former LSU Tigers, are expected to be active against the Chiefs and play after missing most or all of last season with injuries.

Williams has been mostly a full participant but Beckham has been held out of most team activities. Delpit’s recovery from an Achilles injury has been hampered by hamstring concerns.

With the cautious nature that the team’s medical staff has taken and the longer, 17-game season, it is likely that these three are as close to 100% as they can be. Otherwise, while an important game, the Browns aren’t likely to risk a long-term injury in Week 1.

Great news for the team a week ahead of their showdown in Kansas City.
