MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Hurricanes lost 30-28 to Virginia to begin ACC play on Thursday.
The loss dropped Miami to 2-3 on the season, the second time Manny Diaz has started a season 2-3 in his three seasons at Miami. Prior to Diaz there had only been two 2-3 starts in the previous 19 years.
The crowd of 37,269 was the lowest home crowd for Miami (aside from the pandemic season in 2020) since November 2012 according to the Associated Press.
