Police: Several people injured in shooting at Cedar Rapids hotel – KCRG

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Several people have been injured in a shooting at a hotel in southwest Cedar Rapids.

Police responded to the Ramada by Wyndham Hotel, located at 525 33rd Avenue Southwest, just before 10:30 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of shots fired. Witness said that a man pulled out a gun and fired several shots, hitting several people. Witnesses said the shooting happened during a concert that was taking place at the hotel Friday evening.

“People were just pushing people on the ground, trying to get out faster,” one witness said. Police have not said how many people were injured but witnesses told KCRG-TV9 it appeared that five people had been shot. Investigators said those who were injured had non-life-threatening.

Law enforcement said there is no public safety threat and more information is expected to be released Saturday.
