76ers Ben Simmons arrives in Philadelphia amid trade tension: Sources – The Athletic

76ers All-Star Ben Simmons has arrived in Philadelphia and taken a COVID-19 test, per the NBA’s protocols, sources tell The Athletic.

Prior to his arrival, sources confirmed that Simmons and his agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, were working around the clock on a resolution to have the three-time All-Star return to Philadelphia. 76ers general manager Elton Brand, coach Doc Rivers and Paul have been in constant communication over the past few days regarding Simmons, sources said.

The 25-year-old didn’t report to the start of training camp after his representation informed the 76ers in June that Simmons wanted a trade. In mid-July, the 76ers opened up trade conversations surrounding Simmons and engaged with interested teams, as The Athletic reported.

Simmons has four years and $147 million remaining on his max contract. He has spent his entire career with the 76ers since they drafted him with the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
