NFL Week 7 injuries: Baker Mayfield out, several other Browns starters questionable for Thursday vs. Broncos – CBS Sports

We’re now officially a third of the way through the regular season in the NFL and we’ve been treated to quite an opening over the first six weeks. As we look forward to Week 7, it looks like the action will continue. On Sunday, we have the Rams and Lions squaring up after they made a blockbuster trade this offseason where they swapped quarterbacks, plus the Chiefs and Titans will go head to head down in Nashville.

Of course, injuries are always going to play a part on a weekly basis and Week 7 is no different. As it relates to our “Thursday Night Football” matchup, the Browns are going to be without a number of key players, including quarterback Baker Mayfield, who has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury. Below, we will examine the final injury reports for both the Broncos and Browns in-depth while also taking a look at the midweek injury reports around the rest of the league. If you have a question about a player’s status, this is the place to be. All odds come courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook.

Cleveland Broncos at Cleveland Browns (-2) (Thursday)

The Broncos officially list quarterback Teddy Bridgewater as questionable for Thursday’s matchup. The veteran was able to practice on a limited basis throughout the week, so there is optimism that he’ll be able to suit up. Denver also took tight end Noah Fant (foot) off the injury report after practicing fully on Wednesday.

As for the Browns, coach Kevin Stefanski announced Wednesday that Case Keenum will get the start over Baker Mayfield as the quarterback continues to deal with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. Because it was a short week, Mayfield simply wasn’t able to turn things around in time. Keenum will also be without top back Nick Chubb (calf) for the second straight week, and with Kareem Hunt on injured reserve, that means D’Ernest Johnson will start at running back.

Wide receivers Alex Erickson and Terrace Marshall Jr. did not practice on Wednesday for the Panthers due to concussions. Linebacker Shaq Thompson sat out with a foot injury while linebacker Frankie Luvu was limited with a biceps injury.

For the Giants, running back Saquon Barkley (ankle), wide receiver Kenny Golladay (knee), wide receiver John Ross (hamstring), tight end Kaden Smith (knee) and wide receiver Kadarius Toney (ankle) sat out of practice. Offensive guard Ben Bredeson (hand), defensive lineman Danny Shelton (pec) and wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring) were limited participants.

Linebacker C.J. Mosley (hamstring) was not present for the Jets as they return from their bye along with tight end Tyler Kroft (back). Mosley said “we’re optimistic for this weekend,” so it seems like there is still a chance he suits up in Week 7. Safety Marcus Maye (ankle) were among the four Jets who were limited.

The Patriots had 16 players listed on their injury report. They were without DL Davon Godchaux (finger), LB Dont’a Hightower (elbow, ankle), CB Jonathan Jones (ankle), CB Shaun Wade (concussion) and DL Deatrich Wise (knee) to begin the week of practice. What was encouraging, however, is that running back Damien Harris was not among those listed on the injury report after he was dealing with a rib injury for the past few weeks.

Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5) at Tennessee Titans

The Chiefs had several starters who missed practice on Wednesday, including fullback Michael Burton (pectoral), wide receiver Tyreek Hill (quad), linebacker Anthony Hitchens (triceps) and offensive lineman Joe Thuney (hand). They were quarterback Jacoby Brissett (hamstring), running back Malcolm Brown (ribs), cornerback Xavien Howard (shoulder/groin), offensive lineman Austin Jackson (shoulder), defensive tackle John Jenkins (knees), safety Brandon Jones (ankle), cornerback Byron Jones (Achilles/groin), offensive lineman Greg Mancz (groin), linebacker Jaelan Phillips (ankle), quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (ribs) and wide receiver Preston Williams (groin).

The Bengals only had three players who missed practice on Wednesday: cornerback Jalen Davis (ankle), center Trey Hopkins (knee) and defensive tackle Josh Tupou (knee). Among the limited participants were safety Ricardo Allen (ankle), running back Chris Evans (hamstring) and defensive end Trey Hendrickson (shoulder). Quarterback Joe Burrow was listed on the injury report with a throat injury, but was a full participant.

For the Rams, running back Sony Michel was the only player who missed practice for medical reasons with a shoulder injury.

Safety Anthony Harris (hands) was the only player missing from Eagles practice on Wednesday. Defensive end Derek Barnett (foot), center Jason Kelce (foot/rest) and long snapper Rick Lovato (hamstring) were limited.

Tight end Nick Bowers (neck) and safety Dallin Leavitt (quad) missed practice on Wednesday for the Raiders. Star tight end Darren Waller also sat out, but was given a rest/knee designation. Wide receiver Bryan Edwards (hamstring), defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins (hip), linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski (toe), offensive tackle Kolton Miller (pectoral) and wide receiver Henry Ruggs III (knee) were limited participants.

Offensive lineman Justin Britt (knee), defensive back Terrence Brooks (chest) and defensive lineman Jaleel Johnson (back) missed practice on Wednesday. Wide receiver Chris Conley was a limited participant with a neck injury.

The Cardinals are still banged up. Offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum (ribs), tight end Darrell Daniels (hamstring), linebacker Kylie Fitts (concussion), linebacker Jordan Hicks (toe/ankle), linebacker Devon Kennard (shoulder), defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence (calf) and offensive lineman Justin Pugh (back) missed practice on Wednesday. New starting running back Khalil Herbert was a full participant, but had a shoulder injury designation.

Several starters missed practice for the Buccaneers on Wednesday. Among them were wide receiver Antonio Brown (ankle), linebacker Lavonte David (ankle), tight end Rob Gronkowski (ribs), tight end O.J. Howard (ankle) and pass-rusher Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder/hand). Tom Brady was listed with a right thumb injury, but was a full participant.

Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton (quad), defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis (elbow), offensive lineman Braden Smith (foot/thumb), defensive end Kemoko Turay (groin) and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (ankle) missed practice on Wednesday for the Colts. Safeties Julian Blackmon (Achilles) and Andrew Sendejo (concussion) were limited participants.
