Blazers’ Norman Powell Knee Injury Revealed To Be Patellar Tendinopathy – Blazers Edge

Against the Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers’ shooting guard Norman Powell left during the first half with about five minutes remaining. At the half, it was confirmed that Powell would not return, and despite an inconclusive MRI that same evening, the team has finally revealed Powell’s injury: left patellar tendinopathy, also known as jumper’s knee.

Patellar tendinopathy is typically caused by overuse of the tendon that connects the quadriceps muscle to the tibia. It is a common condition in basketball players as it is usually caused by jumping, hopping, and running. Physical therapy is the first-line treatment with the goal of stretching and strengthening the muscles around the knee.

While a timeline for Powell’s return to play with the Trail Blazers is currently not known, Powell was seen joining his teammates on their down-and-back road trip to California despite the fact that he will miss the game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

We wish Norm the best in his recovery and hope he gets well soon!
