It’s a public relations play so bad you hope the Bills didn’t know about it.
O.J. Simpson, the former running back and ex-convict, showed up at Highmark Stadium on Sunday for the Bills’ game against the Dolphins.
“Hey Twitter World, it’s me yours truly, at one of my favorite places,” he began in a video posted Sunday afternoon from a stadium suite. Simpson spent much of the 96-second video waxing poetic about his memories of playing in the stadium, where he ran for 2,003 yards in 1973 and put up five straight All-Pro seasons.
This appeared to be the first time Simpson has been back at a Bills game in a long time. He remains a member of the team’s Wall of Fame despite being accused of murder and found responsible for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in civil court, in addition to a 2008 conviction for armed robbery and kidnapping.
Rumors had surfaced of Simpson being spotted at restaurants around Buffalo leading up to the game. On Sunday, pictures were posted on Twitter of Simpson posing with fans, along with a video of fans cheering him.
Since starting his account in 2019, Simpson has been an active presence on Twitter, posting videos on the site in which he discusses football or current events.
“Guess what?” Simpson said of the game against the Dolphins. “My Bills gonna kick your butts today, I think!”
That prediction did come to fruition, as the Bills beat Miami 26-11 to move to 5-2, with Josh Allen throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for a third.
