Deron Williams to fight on Paul-Fury card; Frank Gore possible opponent: Sources – The Athletic

Former NBA All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist Deron Williams is joining the Jake Paul-Tommy Fury boxing match card on Dec. 18, sources tell The Athletic. Frank Gore — third on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list — is a potential opponent for Williams, sources added.

The fight between the YouTube star and the UK boxer was officially set in late October to take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. The bout, to be broadcast on Showtime PPV, will be contested at a 192-pound catchweight per a press release.

Williams, 37, enjoyed a 12-year career in the NBA, mostly split between the Jazz and the Nets. At 6-foot-3, the former point guard would boast a six-inch height advantage over Gore, 38, in a potential bout. The five-time Pro Bowl running back spent 16 years in the NFL and played as recently as 2020 for the Jets.
