In the only MaxPreps Top 25 matchup of the week it lived up to the hype as No. 15 Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) snapped No. 10 Chandler’s (Ariz.) 45-game win streak with a 21-14 victory. The biggest play came early in the fourth quarter when Dawson Hubbard scooped up a fumble setting up a seven-yard touchdown pass from Nicco Marchiol to Tre Spivey to put the Huskies up 21-14 with just over eight minutes remaining.

The win clinched the top-seed in the Open Division playoffs and gave Hamilton its second win over a Top 10 opponent as they beat Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) 25-24 when they were ranked No. 7 in September.

The Gaels, now ranked 17th in the MaxPreps Top 25, reeled off their eighth straight win since that loss beating Liberty (Henderson) 35-14 to advance to the 5A state championship. Bishop Gorman will be going for its 11th state title since 2009 on Nov. 18 at Allegiant Stadium.

No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) scored the final 42 points after trailing 14-7 in the first quarter against Norco to pull out a 49-14 win.
