The Miami Hurricanes have won three straight games. The Florida State Seminoles have dropped their last two.
It doesn’t matter. This is a rivalry game between two in-state programs that haven’t necessarily proved that they’re anywhere near the top tier of the College Football world.
The Hurricanes are 5-4 and the Seminoles are just 3-6.
A win for Miami keeps their razor thin hopes of playing for an ACC title in Charlotte alive, and a Florida State loss eliminates them from bowl contention. That’s the state of the rivalry in 2021.
But don’t tell that to either coaching staff or anybody with a helmet on inside Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday. There is a lot on the line in this matchup, as 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins highlighted earlier this week.
Miami goes into Tallahassee as 2.5-point favorites over the Noles, who have dropped four straight against Miami. Most think that this one comes down to the wire, as many of their previous 65 matchups. But there will be no national title on the line, no major bowl game implications riding on the result. Instead, it’s more about which program survives this bout and carries the in-state recruiting momentum heading into the off-season.
Here are how some national media members and our friends over at Noles247 view this game going on Saturday:
