10 THOUGHTS:Wolverines’ national title goal feels right

Game notes: U-M and Seton Hall collide in a battle of 2-0 teams. The Pirates took down Yale on Sunday while Michigan beat Praire View A&M on Saturday. It’s a matchup of programs that met in the 1989 national championship, which the Wolverines won, the last title game to be decided by a point (the Wolverines won, 80-79). The teams played the following season but have not met since.

The Wolverines through two games are led by Hunter Dickinson 19 points and eight rebounds per game, both tops on the team. Senior Eli Brooks and freshman Caleb Houstan complement Dickinson with strong outside games.

Seton Hall’s Bryce Aiken and Myles Cale return from last year’s squad, averaging 12 and 13 points respectively. As does Jared Rhoden, who was named to the Big East All-Tournament Team after averaging 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games there in 2021. Alexis Yetna, a 6-foot-8 forward from France, led the way vs. Yale this week with 15 points. The Pirates have lost eight straight against ranked opponents. They beat the then-No. 21 Butler Bulldogs 74-72 on Feb. 19, 2020.

After Tuesday’s game, Seton Hall plays Monday vs. Ohio State; Michigan plays Saturday vs. UNLV.
