Heading into a prime-time Thanksgiving matchup, what is the latest on the New Orleans Saints’ injury report, which has included both Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram? Let’s take a look at the latest updates regarding the status of both Kamara and Ingram, as well as which other Saints players are listed this week.
New Orleans Saints Injury Report: Are Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram both question marks for Thursday?
Kamara has been on the Saints’ injury report with a knee injury dating back to Week 10. The RB has missed each of the last two weeks and was a non-participant on both Monday and Tuesday. Kamara was then not seen during the media portion of practice Wednesday and has been ruled out for Week 12. Given the short week (followed by extended rest), it always seemed logical that the Saints would give Kamara another week to rest.
However, that decision was made tougher by the appearance of Ingram on the Saints’ injury report with a knee injury on Tuesday. Ingram did not participate at all in practice Tuesday. Ingram was present at the media portion of practice Wednesday, took part in stretching, but did not appear to be fully participating. Ingram is questionable for the Saints Week 12 matchup with the Buffalo Bills.
What other RB options do the Saints have?
The Saints’ roster contains two other running backs in Dwayne Washington and Tony Jones Jr. New Orleans activated Jones from injured reserve ahead of Week 11 once they ruled Kamara out. However, he played just 10 snaps and had 3 carries.
Washington has been used sparingly this season. He has just 4 carries and 2 targets in 2021. Of those 4 rush attempts, 3 have come in the past two weeks, as well as 1 of the targets. However, Washington has played just 8 snaps in total during Kamara’s absence.
The other name to watch is Ty Montgomery, who missed Week 11 but is expected to return for Thanksgiving. Montgomery appeared in line to be the Saints’ second back in Week 10 before an early injury forced him from the game. His return will give New Orleans another option to turn to if Kamara and/or Ingram are limited.
Additionally, the Saints could decide to elevate either Josh Adams or Malcolm Perry from their practice squad. They have until 4 PM ET on Thursday for either RB to be eligible to play in the Thanksgiving game.
Who else is on the Saints’ injury report for Week 12?
Outside of the RB situation, the Saints have a number of concerns. On offense, OT Ryan Ramczyk (knee) did not participate in practice on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and has been ruled out for Week 12.
Left tackle Terron Armstead (knee/shoulder) was limited on all three days and enters Thursday questionable. Montgomery (hand) was listed as limited Monday but was a full participant on Tuesday and Wednesday. At QB, both Trevor Siemian (throwing hand) and Taysom Hill (foot) are also listed on the injury report. Montgomery, Semien, and Hill do not carry a designation into gameday.
On the defensive side of the ball, there are serious question marks over the availability of two of their defensive linemen. Both Marcus Davenport (shoulder) and Tanoh Kpassagnon (ankle) were listed as non-participants on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Both have been ruled out for Thursday’s game.
