CEO 2021 just wrapped its gigantic return that everyone’s been waiting for over a year for, and they had even more for fans everywhere
Arc System Works took to the stage following Guilty Gear Strive’s grand finals to announce a rollback netcode update is on the way for both BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle and BlazBlue: Centralfiction.
Centralfiction appears to be the first title to receive its netplay overhaul with a planned release date of February 2022 although it only includes the Steam version of the game.
BlazBlue fans, however, can get their hands on the beta build of the CF update, as ArcSys is set to open test servers for the game on PC starting tomorrow, December 6, at 3 p.m. PDT.
Cross Tag Battle will seemingly be waiting a bit longer to do the same, as ArcSys currently only has the crossover fighter listed with a general 2022 update window.
Unlike Centralfiction though, BBTAG is also getting rollback support on the PlayStation 4 version of the game as well as the Steam release. The Nintendo Switch apparently won’t be receiving the update, however.
You all asked for it and here it is!
We are proud to announce Rollback Netcode for #BlazBlueCentralfiction and #BlazBlueCrossTagBattle ! #CEO2021 pic.twitter.com/jA9bBnRghH— ArcSystemWorks ➡️ #GuiltyGearStrive available now! (@ArcSystemWorksU) December 6, 2021
To coincide with the beta dropping for Centralfiction, ArcSys is also running a BlazBlue series sale on Steam, which will discount the game by 50% for a week as well as take 75% off BBTAG’s Basic Edition and 50% off Special Edition.
The developers had previously said earlier this year that ArcSys was considering adding rollback netcode to their older titles following the positive response from fans for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R’s update and Guilty Gear Strive, and these titles are the first to receive that treatment since — and hopefully a sign that more could be on the way in the future.
As for some of their other developed games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Granblue Fantasy: Versus, Bandai Namco and Cygames are the publishers respectively and would be the ones who need to approve such an overhaul.
