Aaron Rodgers is now the Packers’ all-time leader in touchdown passes.
Rodgers moved past Brett Favre into first on the all-time list with a first-quarter touchdown pass to Allen Lazard in a 24-22 win against the Browns on Saturday, the 443rd of his career.
“Definitely got me a little teary-eyed on the bench,” Rodgers told reporters. “A moment I’ll never forget, that’s for sure. I’m thankful for Favre’s message, for the response from the guys and the crowd obviously was really special.”
Favre filmed a short message for Rodgers, which played at Lambeau Field following the touchdown pass.
“Hey 12. Congratulations, man, on passing my touchdown record,” Favre said. “I have one request: Go get us another Super Bowl. Congrats.”
Favre, who finished his career with 508 touchdown passes, is fourth on the all-time NFL list, behind Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning. He’s still 65 ahead of Rodgers, who is fifth all-time. Favre threw 22 touchdowns for the Jets and 44 for the Vikings.
Rodgers threw for three touchdowns and 302 yards against the Browns as the Packers moved to 12-3, good for first place in the NFC North.
The 38-year-old, who seemed to want out of Green Bay before this season, has the Packers right where they want to be.
“Aaron breaks so many records,” Lazard told reporters. “Literally every week it’s almost like I get on Instagram Monday morning and someone’s always posting some new record that Aaron’s breaking. For us, in a sense, it’s another day at the office. Obviously this one’s a bigger milestone in that sense.”
