Jalen Catalon speaks out about Arkansas transfers and a whole lot more – 247Sports

“He treats them all the same. They are used to being treated differently. The last coaching staff treated the 1s like Gods. On a pedestal and only spoke to the 1s in the film room. Now they are treated equally.”

Things got so out of control that rumors were swirling that Catalon had changed his mind on returning and was now leaving. Fellow DB Myles Slusher was next. It even got to starting quarterback KJ Jefferson… The fact that this even had to be addressed is pretty sorry…

“Yeah bro, KJ’s staying,” Catalon said with a confused look on his face.

A few other players even popped in for a moment. Kicker Cam Little showed off his new shoes, to which Catalon told him he’s trying too hard. Center Ricky Stromberg was in for a moment but was just there to have a good time. Foucha even popped in for a moment. As Foucha exited one commenter wrote, “Coach Carter really messed up.” And Catalon said, “Nah, Coach Carter straight.”

Cornerback signee Jaylen Lewis popped in, as well, and his primary recruiter was Sam Carter. All he talked about was how he could not wait to get to Fayetteville and get started.

Catalon is a defensive guy, and he said his defensive coordinator Barry Odom isn’t going anywhere. He may have less knowledge on offensive coordinator Kendal Briles who is being courted by Miami and possibly others, but he did say when asked if he is staying, “I think so. I think so as far as I know.”

So to sum things up based on what Catalon said:

  • Catalon is staying
  • Myles Slusher is staying
  • Hudson Clark is staying
  • Carter isn’t the reason everyone is leaving
  • Jefferson is staying
  • Little’s 71 yard field goal on social media might be illegitimate
  • Odom is staying
  • Briles is staying (he thinks)
  • Treylon Burks would beat him in a fight, though he’d get his rounds in…
  • He’s not willing to elaborate other than saying they made a “business decision.”

The last order of business is that Arkansas linebacker Bumper Pool is expected to announce his decision today. To that, Catalon told everyone to stay tuned. Will these be the last transfers? Of course not. The portal gives and takes. Arkansas has had its day too, and it will again.
