The King of Fighters 15s special animated short released revealing a glimpse at the villain – EventHubs

Man this would be so cool as an anime or OVA

Japanese fighting games have moved further and further away from featuring anime cutscenes or films over the past decade unfortunately, but that also makes them much more special when they do pop up now.

SNK has officially released the special anime short for The King of Fighters 15 tonight, and it’ll probably leave you wanting more.

The video starts out with Shun’ei and Team Hero preparing to battle what looks to likely be the game’s final boss and provides our first glimpse at the villain.

We still don’t technically know their identity though it’s probably safe to assume at this point they’re connected to Verse and Shun’ei’s blue phantom hand given its appearance.

The short then treats us to a bunch of slick character and action shots of the roster, which doesn’t really reveal anything else new, but it’s still cool to see

Seeing shots like Kyo vs. Iori and K’ vs. Krohnen are definitely the highlights from a visual standpoint, and it’s a bit sad to see it come to and end after only 90 seconds.

As was previously announced, this short was directed by the legendary Masami Obari (at least if you’re a fan of mecha), who previously directed Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture as well as provided the character designs for the film and the other two Fatal Fury anime specials from the early ’90s.

It’s not outright confirmed, but this short will likely serve as KOF15’s intro video though you can go ahead and take a gander now below.
