Steam Deck CAD files are now out for grabs
Valve released 3D drawings of Steam Deck’s external shell under the Creative Commons license.
The modding community should be delighted to know that Steam Deck is designed for modders. The external shell CAD drawings will unlock new possibilities and hopefully the whole 3rd party market for Deck customizations.

The company, therefore, continues to make its handheld console as user and modder friendly as possible. Valve already confirmed that their console should support not only the proprietary SteamOS Linux operating system, but also let users to multi-boot to other Linux distros, and even Windows 10/11.
Hello! Good news for all the tinkerers, modders, accessory manufacturers, or folks who just want to 3D print a Steam Deck to see how it feels.
Today we’re making the CAD files for the external shell (surface topology) of Steam Deck available for download under a Creative Commons license. This includes an STP model, STL model, and drawings (DWG) for reference. You can find the files here.
We’re looking forward to seeing what the community creates!
Valve recently allowed reviewers to show and test the hardware components of the device and even lifted the embargo on the consoles’ teardowns. The company is yet to allow reviews to publish full reviews covering software. The console is now set to launch on February 25th.
