The Bengals didn’t hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of Super Bowl 2022, but the team’s biggest supporters are still elated at the teams fairytale season.
Olivia Holzmacher, the longtime girlfriend of quarterback Joe Burrow, took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday night to share she’s “still beyond proud” of the Bengals, who lost to the Rams, 23-20.
Burrow completed 22 of 33 attempts during Sunday’s big game, throwing for 263 yards and one touchdown. The 25-year-old was sacked seven times, even limping off the field in the fourth quarter with Holzmacher looking on with concern.
Following the game, Burrow — who has been linked to Holzmacher since 2017 — expressed gratitude for his teammates on what’s been a memorable season.
“Sorry we couldn’t get it done. Proud of our team and our fans,” he tweeted. “Love these guys.”
The Bengals’ historic playoff run was one of the biggest storylines of the 2021 postseason, with Holzmacher celebrating Burrow’s accomplishments every step of the way. The couple shared a sweet moment together after January’s AFC Championship win over the Chiefs.
Burrow added Sunday that the loss would “fuel them” going into next season.
“We have to let if fuel us,” Burrow said postgame. “We are going to at least celebrate what we did this year.”
The Bengals finished the regular season at 10-7 with an AFC North title.
