Thiago assessed by Liverpool after hamstring problem forced him to miss Carabao Cup final – The Athletic

Liverpool are assessing the extent of Thiago’s injury after he was forced to pull out of the Carabao Cup final due to tightness in his hamstring.

It is understood Thiago will have a scan today.

The Spain international, who has been in outstanding form, complained of discomfort during the warm-up at Wembley and had to be replaced in the starting lineup by Naby Keita.

A devastated Thiago was pictured in tears before kick-off as he was consoled on the Liverpool bench by goalkeeper Alisson.

He had to sit and watch as Jurgen Klopp’s side won a dramatic final against Chelsea 11-10 on penalties after a goalless but incident-packed 120 minutes.

The 30-year-old is desperately hoping to avoid another spell on the sidelines after a stop-start campaign. Calf and hip problems, as well as a bout of COVID-19, have limited him to just 12 starts in all competitions in 2021-22.
