Today Apple is releasing a new round of software updates for its mobile devices. This includes iOS 15.4.1 for all supported iPhones, as well as iPadOS 15.4.1 for all supported tablets. As the number incrementation strongly implies, this is a minor release that doesn’t bring any new features.
It does, however, purport to improve something that we’d wager is incredibly important for most people: battery life. That’s because the release notes mention that upon installation of this update, your iPhone or iPad will fix the battery drain issues that were apparently introduced with the release of iOS 15.4 a couple of weeks ago.
Additionally, you’re also getting a fix for Braille devices becoming unresponsive while navigating text or displaying an alert, and a fix for Made for iPhone hearing devices losing connection within some third party apps. There might also be other, unnamed, bug fixes and various performance improvements baked in too, but clearly the headline here is about that battery drain fix.
So if your iPhone or iPad seemed to get really hungry after the iOS or iPadOS 15.4 update, then you might want to head on over to Settings and install iOS 15.4.1 or iPadOS 15.4.1 as soon as possible.
