ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Professional Fighters League (PFL) continues its 2022 season TONIGHT (Fri., May 6, 2022) with a massive night of fights at PFL 3. Headlining the card will be a Lightweight fight between undefeated returning two-time champion, Kayla Harrison, and Russian Sambo ace, Marina Mokhnatkina.

The evening’s co-main event features returning Welterweight champion Ray Cooper III as he faces Carlos Leal.

PFL 3 PLAY-BY-PLAY:
155lbs.: Kayla Harrison vs. Marina Mokhnatkina
Round 1: Leg kick for Harrison starts the action followed by a head kick. Heavy straight left from Harrison. Harrison pursues the takedown and gets it only for Marina to threaten in guard grabbing wrist control. Marina tried to push off with her legs and takes some punches. She works to her feet as Harrison lands a knee upstairs against the cage. Harrison continues controlling against the cage as she begins landing short shots in tight. Harrison trips Marina as Marina goes for a kneebar to no avail. Harrison takes the back. Marina escapes. A bit of a feeling-out process at the end of the round until Harrison connects with a looping shot but Marina appears unphased. Round ends.
Round 2: Outside leg kick from Harrison. Big left hand for Harrison is followed by a takedown attempt against the cage. Knee lands high for Harrison as she improves to hit a trip takedown. Marina stands up with Harrison on her back. Marina works to get an over hook as they trade knees to the thigh. Harrison tosses Marina away from the cage only for Marina to attempt another leg lock. Harrison escapes and lands some punches in the guard. Marina connects from bottom before Harrison gets to half guard. Harrison finds side control looking for a crucifix. Marina escapes but Harrison takes her back against the cage. The two trade short shots that aren’t very damaging while Harrison looks for the choke. Marina stands up and the round ends.
Round 3: Head kick attempt early for Marina. Harrison throws one back. Left overhand for Harrison. Marina punches in close and gets grabbed, Harrison finds the back once more as Marina works from her knees. Marina works her way toward the cage to stand with Harrison holding a body lock. Small shots are exchanged in the position. Knees to the body from Harrison. Marina attempts a trip of her own but Harrison defends as they relocate. They separate. Marina lands back to back right hands. Low kick for Harrison. Fight ends.

170lbs.: Ray Cooper III vs. Carlos Leal
Round 1: Cooper dives in for an early double leg takedown against the cage. Leal defends to get an underhook backing Cooper to the cage. Cooper reverses position before they break. Another takedown attempt from Cooper is stuffed as they go back to the same position against the cage. Heavy knees land to the body for each. Shoulder strikes from Leal. A nice double hook combo for Leal on the break. Outside leg kick for Leal. Nice jab from Cooper before another takedown attempt. Knee up high for Leal. Solid double jab for Leal. Big flurry of knees in the thai clinch for Leal before round ends.
Round 2: Cooper shoots in for a takedown which is defended. Leg kick and body jab for Leal. Failed jump knee from Leal gives Cooper a brief takedown as they scramble for position as Leal escapes to hit an inside low kick. Solid body kick from Leal. Cooper shoots and is sprawled on absorbing punches to the head and body. Uppercut and knee land big for Leal. Leal lands pitter-patter to a downed Cooper as they work their way up. Head kick from Leal. Right hand from Leal. Inside low kick for Leal. Leal lands outside with the low kick. Looping left hand for Cooper as he takes another outside low kick. Body kick from Leal. Leal chops in down low again, horn sounds.
Round 3: Jab for Leal as Cooper shoots and eats a knee. Leal backs him up with several punches before ripping the body and folding Cooper against the cage. Cooper survives and grabs hold of Leal to reverse position while still taking some thumping shots. Leal escapes and begins unloading on a visibly hurt Cooper. Punches and knees aplenty, Cooper remains standing and winded. Jab for Leal. Cooper fires back with an uppercut to the body. Leal goes back downstairs, eats a hook for his troubles. Leal shoots in for a takedown and gives up his neck leading to a brief Cooper guillotine attempt. Cooper begins to land big hooks, Leal lands back. Head kick from Leal. Cooper unloads big hooks, grazing Leal as the two clinch in the center and the fight concludes.

155lbs.: Anthony Pettis vs. Myles Price
Round 1: Pettis stuns Price nearly instantly and they end up in guard with Pettis on top. Minimal punches thrown in tight by each as they work near the cage. Pettis postures up and lands some long punches. Price gets to half guard before Pettis takes his back briefly but loses it to land in guard and toss up a triangle choke. Pettis rolls him onto his back and gets the tap. Another quick six.

170lbs.: Rory MacDonald vs. Brett Cooper
Round 1: MacDonald jabs early before hitting a quick single-leg takedown. Hard ground and pound from side control lands for MacDonald. MacDonald methodically works to full mount and drops more big shots before Cooper turtles and gives his back before the rear-naked choke seals it for “The Red King.”

155lbs: Larissa Pacheco vs. Zamzagul Fayzallanova
Round 1: Strong jab from Pacheco. Good inside low kick follows it up before Pacheco staggers Zamzagul with a big punch. Heavy right hands follow as Zamzagul retreats. Pacheco’s right hand continues to connect as she flurries and puts Zamzagul away for a quick six points in the season.
