Alabama defensive lineman Stephon Wynn is transferring to Nebraska, he announced Sunday evening on Instagram.
Wynn entered the NCAA transfer portal last month after the end of spring practice. He joins safety Kaine Williams, who also entered the portal after spring practice, in transferring to Nebraska.
Wynn was a four-star recruit in 2018 who played in 21 games over the past four seasons, all as a reserve. He was projected to play a reserve role again this season as a redshirt senior, and would be eligible to play again in 2023 under the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver.
Wynn saw time in seven games last season, making five tackles and one quarterback hurry.
Alabama’s top five projected defensive linemen for the upcoming season remain DJ Dale, Justin Eboigbe, Jamil Burroughs, Byron Young and Tim Smith, with several other scholarship players set to compete this August for playing time.
Wynn was one of 18 scholarship players to enter the transfer portal for Alabama since last season, along with at least 11 walk-ons. Linebacker Jaylen Moody was the only scholarship player to return to Alabama after entering the portal.
